About

We don’t follow trends — we cultivate them.

Acequia Ventures is an innovation platform rooted in San Antonio, built to power the next generation of founders often left out of traditional venture. We build, invest in, and support scalable South Texas companies. We’re not just a fund. We’re a multi-division venture ecosystem combining capital, incubation, consulting, and community — all under one mission: to unlock the full potential of founders with grit, vision, and deep cultural roots.

How We're Different

We don’t just write checks—we roll up our sleeves. With deep operator experience and a commitment to place-based innovation, we help founders build companies that scale sustainably, stay true to their culture, and create lasting impact in their communities.

Founder & Principal

Cris Medina is the Founder and Principal of Acequia Ventures, PBC, a veteran-owned civic capital platform rooted in South Texas. He launched Acequia with the conviction that capital should build both legacy and returns—activating entrepreneurship, infrastructure, and cultural enterprise in ways that strengthen communities.

With more than 15 years of leadership across military, municipal, and federal roles, Cris brings trusted relationships, strategic communications expertise, and a proven ability to align stakeholders around bold initiatives. His service as a San Antonio City Councilmember, veteran entrepreneur, and Public Affairs Officer in the U.S. Air Force has shaped a leadership style grounded in integrity, precision, and purpose.

Guided by the resilience, heritage, and community pride of South Texas, Cris is committed to bridging sophisticated capital with the people and ideas shaping the region’s future. He leads with disciplined execution and a clear belief that impact and performance go hand in hand.

Cris holds a Master of Public Administration from St. Mary’s University and advanced training in data analytics, investment strategy, and continuous process improvement. A proud military officer, seasoned civic leader, and family man, he leads with a singular aim: to build institutions that serve, empower, and transform.

A 2025 Business Journal Texans to Watch and South Texas Power Player, Andrew has built a career advancing consumer brands and civic infrastructure with both founder insight and venture discipline.

As co-founder and CEO of Southside Craft Soda, he raised capital, secured statewide distribution with H-E-B and Central Market, and won Walmart’s Golden Ticket—positioning the brand for national growth. His civic leadership includes nearly eight years on the board of Port San Antonio, founding the Southside First Economic Development Council, and serving as a founding board member of Arboretum San Antonio. He also co-founded San Antonio CPG, where he now serves as chair.

Alongside his venture work, he and his wife Marcie own Mission Crafts Chandlery, a fragrance brand and boutique candle bar in San Antonio’s King William neighborhood. A graduate of Harlandale High School and Texas State University, Andrew combines founder perspective, capital fluency, and civic leadership to scale culture-rooted ventures across South Texas and beyond.
